Zach Edey voted unanimous AP preseason All-America for 2023-24 season
Zach Edey is back for another season in West Lafayette after finally deciding to forego the NBA Draft late in the process. Now, the game-changing big man is back with Purdue and looking for another dominant year.
As the reigning Player of the Year in college basketball, Edey was the lone unanimous selection for the AP preseason All-America team. That team was unveiled Monday with Edey included on all 60 ballots for the honor.
Edey led the way on a preseason All-America team that featured 4 dynamic big men, including former Michigan center Hunter Dickinson who is now at Kansas. Here is the full 5-team list from the AP:
- Zach Edey, C, Purdue (Unanimous)
- Hunter Dickinson, C, Kansas
- Kyle Filipowski, F, Duke
- Armando Bacot, F, UNC
- Tyler Kolek, G, Marquette
Last season, Edey set career-high marks in virtually every category, including the big man’s ability to average 31.7 minutes per game. He finished with 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 61% from the floor.
Edey improved his shooting touch while going 73% from the free-throw line and averaging 7 free-throw attempts per game.
While playing with a young roster last season, Edey and the Boilermakers carved out a No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, that run was brief with a historic loss at the hands of Fairleigh Dickinson.
