Zander Horvath waited a long time to hear his name called in the 2022 NFL Draft. But after landing with the Los Angeles Chargers as a 7th-round pick, Horvath is being utilized early in his career.

In the season opener, Horvath had 3 total touches as a fullback for the Chargers. He carried the ball once for a 2-yard gain and posted 2 receptions for 6 yards and a short touchdown.

The CHargers kept the touchdowns rolling for Horvath in Week 2, targeting him once again near the goalline. The short touchdown catch off play-action was Los Angeles’ first of the game and goes down as Horvath’s 2nd career score in his 2nd career game.

To put Horvath’s early start in perspective, former Ohio State stars Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson completed their season openers without a touchdown grab. We’ll see if Horvath keeps this up moving forward but looks like the Chargers have a role for the Boilermaker.
