A lot of B1G programs offered Demetrious Allen, but Rutgers was the school that got him.

Sunday night, the 3-star defensive lineman out of Leo, Indiana announced on Twitter that he has verbally committed to Rutgers. He becomes the 13th player in the 2022 recruiting class to pledge to the Scarlet Knights.

“I would like to take this time to thank my family, friends, coaches and those who have helped me develop into not only the athlete that I am today but also the person that I am today,” Allen wrote. “I want to thank my mom for always being there for me and making the sacrifices that she has made for the betterment of me. I do not know where I would be without her. She has been an inspiration to me and has pushed me to be the best that I can be at all times. I deeply appreciate everything that she does for me.

“With that being said, after an amazing visit, I am proud to announce that I am officially committed to Rutgers University!!”

Allen is listed as a 6-foot-7, 225-pound defensive lineman. He ranks as the No. 15 prospect out of Indiana and is one of the Top 150 talents along the defensive front in the 2022 cycle, per 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Nearly two dozen teams offered Allen in the recruiting process. Rutgers beat out six other B1G programs for his pledge: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.

With Allen’s pledge, Rutgers’ class ranks third in the B1G and seventh nationally.
