Rutgers won’t have to wait much longer to find out if it’s landing one of the top linebacker prospects in the 2022 recruiting class.
Anthony Johnson, a 4-star inside linebacker from Philadelphia, revealed that he plans to make a commitment decision at 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening. He’s narrowed down his list of Top 4 programs to Rutgers, Alabama, Auburn and Oregon.
The 6-foot-1, 230-pound prospect is listed as the No. 165 player in the 2022 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He also ranks as the No. 7 inside linebacker and the No. 6 player from Pennsylvania.

Currently, 247Sports has Johnson’s Crystal Ball prediction favoring the Scarlet Knights. It would be a huge victory for head coach Greg Schiano, who’s been making a push to bring nearby talent to Rutgers to build a strong program in the B1G East.
Schiano and his staff have been very active already with the 2022 recruiting class. The Scarlet Knights have commitments from six players thus far, ranking No. 4 in the B1G and No. 13 nationally. Four of those pledges are from New Jersey.
Johnson would be the highest-ranked prospect currently in Rutgers’ 2022 class.
