Cam Spencer, a star guard at Rutgers, has made a surprising entry into the transfer portal, according to a report from NJ Advance Media.

As a graduate transfer, Spencer will be immediately eligible at his next program.

Last season, the Loyola-Maryland transfer was the Scarlet Knights’ leading scorer as he averaged 13.2 points on 44.4% shooting on 10 shots per game — 45.3% from the field, 43.4% on 3s, 89.4% on free throws, with 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2 steals in 31.5 minutes per game. That was the best shooting season of any Scarlet Knight from beyond the arc and at the free throw line in nearly a decade.

Spencer’s production was among the best in Rutgers history in several categories. His percentage from 3 is tied for 5th in a single-season in Rutgers history. His free throw percentage was 5th best in a single-season in RU history. And his 69 steals was 6th most ever in a season by a Rutgers player. He scored in double-figures in 24 games, with five games of at least 20 points.

Spencer previously played 3 seasons at Loyola-Maryland, and has shot 41% from 3 in his career.
