After another blowout loss, Rutgers head coach Chris Ash indicated that he will be more involved with the defense moving forward.

It is no secret the Scarlet Knights are struggling defensively. The latest performance was a 34-7 blowout loss to Maryland, and that loss came after surrendering 38 points in a loss to Illinois.

Rutgers has already allowed 30 or more points this season five times and has allowed at least 24 points in every game but one. There is no easy fix to Rutgers’ issues, but Ash indicated he was more involved with the defense leading up to Saturday’s game. He will continue to be more involved with the defensive unit in a variety of aspects moving forward.

Bobby Deren with 247Sports shared Ash’s comments from his Monday press conference:

“I’m a defensive guy. I’ve always been somewhat involved with coaching meetings on the defensive side of the ball,” Ash said during his weekly press conference. “I was much more involved last week and will continue to be so in terms of running player meetings and being involved with some of the game-day play-calling. I did that here last week and will continue do that in an effort to try to get us where we need to do defensively.”

Hopefully it will help get the Scarlet Knights back on track and back in the win column.
