After Rutgers beat Maryland in overtime, head coach Greg Schiano spoke to the media after the game and was in tears for part of it.

He explained that three players lost their loved ones this past week, and two of them were due to COVID-19:

This win ended up being the win of the season with what some of the players had to go through this past week and for what the whole team has gone through with this season.

Rutgers won the game with a 42-yard field goal in overtime before Maryland missed a game-tying 50-yarder. It ended up having the Scarlet Knights finish the season at 3-5.

If there was any doubt about Greg Schiano’s hire when it first happened, those doubts should all be cast aside now.

Rutgers (as well as the rest of the Big Ten) still don’t know who their opponent will be for Champions Week next weekend.
