Former Rutgers defensive tackle and current motivational speaker, Eric LeGrand, has been chosen to be an honorary captain for a Sky Blue FC soccer game. He’ll serve in that position on Saturday, May 20.

Sky Blue will host the Houston Dash in a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL)┬ámatch.

“It is an honor to be the honorary captain for the Sky Blue FC women’s soccer team,” LeGrand said, according to the team’s website. “I have been a fan of the game for a long time and I am proud to represent New Jersey with them.”

According to Sky Blue’s website, LeGrand has been a longtime supporter of the soccer club. In addition to the former Rutgers defender serving as an honorary captain, Sky Blue FC will also take part in his 7th Annual A Walk to Believe 5K and Fun Walk.

The game is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Saturday and will include a special halftime ceremony to honor LeGrand.
