Former Rutgers defensive lineman CJ Onyechi has found a new place to call home.

Monday afternoon, the former Scarlet Knight announced on Twitter that he is heading to Colorado State to continue his college football career. He spent 5 years at Rutgers before deciding to hit the transfer portal and spend his final year of eligibility somewhere else.

Last season, Onyechi played in 11 games for the Scarlet Knights, making 8 starts. He totaled 28 tackles, 2.5 for loss, 3 quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery. Rutgers ended the year with a 5-8 record and played in the Gator Bowl.

Over the course of his career in Piscataway, Onyechi appeared in 43 games and racked up 87 stops. He was also credited with 12.5 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.

Colorado State will be getting plenty of experience with Onyechi’s arrival. It will also serve as a significant loss to the Rutgers defense heading into the 2022 season.
