Greg Schiano is utilizing the transfer portal to the best of his ability as he works on wrapping up his first recruiting class since his return to Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights received some good news this week, as former Boston College defensive tackle Ireland Burke announced his commitment to Rutgers. He comes to Piscataway after spending just one season with the Eagles. Burke made his announcement with a brief Twitter message that read “Coming back home.”

Burke was a former three-star prospect out of high school. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive lineman held offers from over a dozen schools, including four from B1G programs. As a recruit, Purdue, Rutgers, Minnesota and Maryland all showed interest in Burke,

In his lone season with Boston College, Burke played in nine games and totaled six tackles, including four solo stops. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, as well as one redshirt season.

Rutgers is coming off a 2-10 season.
