Former Rutgers basketball player leads all Division I in scoring this season
After spending three seasons at Rutgers, Peter Kiss decided to transfer out of the program and look for an opportunity elsewhere. Although he played a significant role on the team during the 2018-19 season, he appeared in a minimal number of games during the 2019-20 campaign, opting to hit the transfer portal.
Kiss landed at Bryant in May 2020, spending the past two seasons with the program. Though he was never really able to find his footing in Piscataway, he’s certainly done it with his new program.
With the college basketball season winding down, Kiss is the Division I leader in scoring. In his second year at Bryant, the 6-foot-5 redshirt senior is averaging 25.1 points per game — the only player in the country above the 25 ppg mark.
That’s not the only contributions Kiss has made to Bryant this season, also averaging 6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Near the end of the season, Kiss strung together 6 straight games of scoring 30 points or more. He’s exceeded the 20-point mark in 16 games and has only been held under double figures on one occasion.
Bryant is 20-9 this season with a 16-2 mark in the Northeast Conference. If Kiss continues to stay this hot, the Bulldogs will have a chance to make a run at the NCAA Tournament.
Kiss’s top season at Rutgers came in 2018-19 when he appeared in 30 games and made 12 starts. He averaged 6 points and 2.2 rebounds for the Scarlet Knights.
