Former Rutgers guard Jacob Young is heading to the Pac-12.

He’s going to play for Oregon next season, he announced on Wednesday evening.

Here’s his announcement:

Young was one of the biggest bright spots for the Scarlet Knights last season. He scored 14.1 points per game and also dished out 3.4 assists. He should make an immediate impact for the Ducks, who are hoping to contend for the Pac-12 title alongside UCLA.

Young played two seasons at Rutgers after transferring from Texas following the 2018 season. He did have to sit out a year, which means this will be his sixth season of college basketball.

He’s eligible to continue playing because of a blanket waiver to all athletes given by the NCAA due to the pandemic.

Rutgers’ success or failure next season will likely to depend on what happens for the rest of the offseason. Geo Baker and Ron Harper are currently going through the pre-draft process, but the door is open for them to return to school. If both return to school, the Scarlet Knights could be very competitive again next season.
