Rutgers is having a big performance against Wagner in Week 2 as quarterback Gavin Wimsatt and wide receiver Chris Long accounted for their first touchdown in their collegiate careers.

Late in the first quarter, Wimsatt found a wide-open Long for a 41-yard throw where Long would finish the play with a speculator one-handed catch.

That catch would put Rutgers up 21-0 over Wagner in the first home game of the 2022 season for the Scarlet Knights.

Long has been waiting a while to get his first career reception touchdown since arriving from the 2020 recruiting class. Long, a former three-star athlete, was rated as the 17th best player in the state of New Jersey, according to 247Sports Composite. Wimsatt is a former four-star prospect from the 2021 recruiting class and the third-best prospect from the state of Kentucky, according to 24Sports Composite.

We’ll see what else these two have in store for the rest of the season.
