A former Michigan defensive end has decided to finish his athletic career in the B1G East.

Ron Johnson Jr. announced via Twitter on Thursday that he will graduate transfer to Rutgers to complete his academic and athletic career. He will be immediately eligible for the Scarlet Knights in 2019.

Johnson is a former four-star prospect as a high school recruit and is a native of Camden, New Jersey. His commitment to Rutgers will be a bit of a homecoming for the ex-Michigan defensive lineman.

This is a huge addition for Chris Ash and the Scarlet Knights, as the team could use some additional depth on the defensive line. And as a former four-star prospect, he has major potential, as well.

Johnson didn’t see much of the field during his time in Ann Arbor, but he’ll have an opportunity to have a big impact in Piscataway. He’ll have two years of eligibility left once he joins the Rutgers roster.
