A former Rutgers assistant coach is on his way back to Piscataway, according to a report.

Scarlet Nation reported Wednesday that Henry Baker will return to Rutgers to coach cornerbacks after the incumbent, Cory Robinson, joined Mike Locksley’s staff at Maryland. Baker was last with the university during the 2017 season.

Last season, Baker was the cornerbacks coach on Larry Fedora’s staff at North Carolina.

Baker has strong ties to New Jersey and his experience with the Scarlet Knight program should be a benefit for Chris Ash.

Prior to his first stint at Rutgers, Baker spent six seasons on staff at the University of Delaware. He played college football at Maryland. This is the first coaching change for Ash this offseason.

Rutgers finished the 2018 season 1-11 and went 0-9 in B1G play.
