Chris Ash has added an in-state product to Rutgers’ 2020 recruiting class.

Late Friday night, three-star defensive tackle Nick Bags gave his verbal pledge to the Scarlet Knights. The New Jersey native becomes the fourth player to commit to Rutgers in the 2020 cycle and is the second in-state player to join.

Bags made his announcement via Twitter.

“I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point of my football career,” Bags wrote. “I am committing to Rutgers University.”

A 6-foot-3, 280-pound tackle out of Wayne, New Jersey, Bags is listed as one of the top 30 players out of his home state. He’s also considered to be one of the top 100 defensive tackles in the 2020 class.

Bags has received 13 total offers during his recruitment, with Rutgers being the lone Power Five program. He also received interest from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Buffalo, Temple, UMass and Florida International.

With Bags’ commitment on Friday night, Rutgers now has four members in its 2020 recruiting class. The Scarlet Knights rank 66th nationally and 12th in the B1G.
