One day after being routed by the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines, 52-0, on September 28, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights made the decision to move on from embattled head coach Chris Ash.

Ending his tenure in Piscataway with an 8-32 record, Ash was replaced by tight ends Nunzio Campanile. Taking over on an interim basis, Campanile addressed the media on Monday for the first time as the program’s head coach.

Rutgers on BTN provided footage of the coach’s introductory comments:

Originally joining Ash’s staff in 2018 as the team’s running backs coach, Campanile will also handle offensive coordinator duties following the dismissal of John McNulty.

Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, Campanile was the head coach at powerhouse Bergen Catholic High School (Oradell, New Jersey) from 2010-17.

Dropping to 1-3 on the season with the loss in Ann Arbor, Rutgers hosts Maryland (2-2) on Saturday (12:00PM ET, BTN).
