Isiah Pacheco had to leave Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals early, and after tests were done it looks like the Kansas City Chiefs running back and former Rutgers star will be missing some time.

The 3rd-year player left Arrowhead Stadium in a walking boot and crutches, and based on initial tests Pacheco fractured his fibula, according to Ian Rapoport. Pacheco was injured late in the game when he was sandwiched by 3 Bengals defenders.

He left the game and never returned as the drama built when the Chiefs were trying to drive for a winning field goal at the end of the game. The Chiefs didn’t provide an in-game update on Pacheco’s status, but he was seen after the game in a walking boot and using crutches, which are never good signs.

More information should follow regarding the severity of the injury and the damage, but Pacheco, a vital part of the Chiefs offensive machine, is going to miss some serious time. ESPN is reporting that Pacheco is expected to land on injured reserve, meaning he will miss a minimum of 4 games and potentially more.

So, while the Chiefs improved to 2-0 with another dramatic win on Sunday, prevailing on a field goal on the final play of the game, they have apparently lost one of their key cogs for a while.
