It took almost six quarters, but Rutgers finally trails for the first time in 2020
Greg Schiano’s return to Rutgers has provided some immediate dividends.
In Week 1, Schiano and the new look Scarlet Knights stunned the B1G and most of the country when they knocked off Michigan State. The defense forced seven turnovers while the team as a whole scored 38 points in the victory.
An especially bright spot in the win was Rutgers’ hot start, scoring on the opening drive in Week 1 and forcing some early turnovers. In Week 2 against Indiana, a couple of early stops helped the team also hold a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Unfortunately, some bad turnovers have allowed the Hoosiers to score 20-unanswered points and jump out to a 20-7 lead close to halftime. That may be disappointing, but considering it took almost six quarters for the first deficit of 2020, we’ll still chalk this up as a mini win for Schiano and company.
Indiana forces a turnover, scores two plays later, and for the first time this season Rutgers trails.
