Jim Panagos is officially on the move.

On Tuesday, Kansas announced that it has hired Panagos to be the program’s defensive tackles coach. He spent the past two seasons at Rutgers on Greg Schiano’s staff working as the defensive line coach.

Panagos will head to Lawrence with nearly three decades of coaching experience. This will be his first stop in the Big 12 during his coaching career.

“Coach Panagos is an excellent addition to our coaching staff, and I’m very excited to work with him,” head coach Lance Leipold said. “He has a strong reputation as an outstanding recruiter, as well as a track record of developing his players. His experience and philosophies align well with our defensive staff and will benefit our defensive tackles and our defense as a whole.”

Panagos, a Maryland graduate, was in his second stint with the Scarlet Knights. He previously worked on Kyle Flood’s staff from 2012-15 as a defensive line coach.

Before his return to Rutgers in 2020, Panagos spent one year at Minnesota as the defensive line coach.
