Rutgers just landed a big commitment.
Thursday evening, the Scarlet Knights received a verbal pledge from 4-star offensive tackle Jacob Allen, who ranks as the No. 110 overall player in the 2022 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports. It’s another huge addition for a class that already ranks really high at this point in the cycle.
“It’s been a heck of a ride. Thank you to everyone who has supported me,” Allen wrote in a post on Twitter. “I am 100% committed let’s get it! #Jersey #CHOP.”

Allen is listed as a 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle in the 2022 class. He’s the No. 1 player out of the state of New Jersey and the No. 11 offensive tackle. He had nearly 30 offers, but decided to play for the hometown Scarlet Knights.
From 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn:
Great frame for offensive tackle. Has length and high-level athleticism. Re-classified into ’22 after freshman season. Physical and flexible. Bends well at knees. Sinks hips and is strong in lower body. Can stand up defensive linemen trying to bull rush. Good foot work and foot speed. Effective pulling. Can target defender in space and has body control to make block. Scrapes and gets to second level quickly.
Allen received several major offers during the recruiting process. Teams like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and Texas A&M all showed interest.
Allen is the second-highest rated player to commit to Rutgers’ 2022 class, behind 4-star quarterback Gavin Wimsatt.
Rutgers is up to 12 verbal commitments in the 2022 cycle. The Scarlet Knights currently rank No. 10 nationally and No. 3 in the B1G.
