Kirk Ciarrocca is leaving Minnesota for the second time to become the next OC at Rutgers. The football team’s Twitter account welcomed Ciarrocca to the staff.

Ciarrocca left the Golden Gophers for the first time to become the OC at Penn State entering the 2020 season. He eventually left Penn State to become an offensive analyst at West Virginia for the 2021 season before returning to Minnesota this year as OC.

Here’s what Ciarrocca had to say about this new opportunity per a Rutgers press release:

“I want to thank Coach Schiano and Rutgers for giving me the opportunity to return to a place with many great memories,” Ciarrocca said. “Coach is building something special here and I want to be a part of that. I can’t wait to get on the practice field with the players.”

The Scarlet Knights had the second-fewest total offensive yards per game this season in the B1G, averaging 282.1. The only team with less was Iowa at 251.6 yards per game. Under Ciarrocca’s guidance, the Minnesota offense averaged 389.8 total offensive yards per game this season.

Greg Schiano will be hoping that Ciarrocca can fix the offensive problems in Piscataway after a 4-8 finish to the regular season. The Scarlet Knights will be looking to return to bowl season after last playing Wake Forest in the Gator Bowl in 2021.
