One of Rutgers’ best offensive players may not suit up another game for the Scarlet Knights this season. Four games into the year, running back Raheem Blackshear is planning to use his redshirt.
The decision comes a few days after head coach Chris Ash was fired. He, along with quarterback Art Sitkowski, are now expected to sit out the remainder of the year. The report comes from NJ.com.
Blackshear has arguably been the best offensive player for Rutgers this season.
In four games, Blackshear has taken 29 carries for 88 yards, but most of his damage has come as a pass-catcher. He’s caught 29 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns. If he uses his redshirt year, he’ll have one year of eligibility remaining.
Rutgers is 1-3 this season and is 0-2 in B1G play. The Scarlet Knights will host Maryland today.
