Rutgers is still in the midst of finding its newest head coach, but there’s one candidate who has removed his name from consideration, according to a report from NJ.com.

According to James Kratch, former Cincinnati and Tennessee head coach Butch Jones has removed his name from consideration from the candidate pool and no longer has interest in the position. Jones reportedly met with Rutgers officials earlier this year regarding the job.

Per NJ.com, Jones and former Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano are the two primary candidates to have met with the school about the vacancy.

It was reported on Tuesday that Schiano had interest in the position, but was making significant demands in order to return to Piscataway, while most of that information remains unknown, it was reported that he wanted Rutgers to build an indoor practice facility in order to compete with other programs across the B1G.

Whether or not Jones’ decision to remove his name from consideration is an indication that Rutgers is zeroing in on Schiano is a bit of an unknown at this time.
