A former Rutgers offensive coordinator is reportedly a strong candidate to land on the Oregon Staff. Yahoo’s Pete Thamel reported the news on Thursday.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning is reportedly targeting Drew Mehringer to become the tight ends coach for the Ducks. He was previously the offensive coordinator at Rutgers, serving in that role under then-head coach Chris Ash in 2016.

Mehringer also had a stop at Ohio State as a graduate assistant from 2012-13.

Following his lone season with the Scarlet Knights, Mehringer moved to Texas, where he teamed up with former head coach Tom Herman. With the Longhorns, Mehringer was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2017-19.

Mehringer has also had stops at Rice, Iowa State, James Madison, Houston and Florida Atlantic.
