Rutgers is reportedly adding another assistant to the staff for the upcoming football season. This time, it’s a coach with ties to the Scarlet Knights and head coach Greg Schiano.
According to Brian Fonseca with NJ.com, the Scarlet Knights are adding Eddie Allen as a special teams assistant for 2022. Allen has been added to Rutgers’ online staff directory.
Allen has been a special teams coordinator going back to 2008. That stint came at Rhode Island from 2008-13. He has since served in the same role at Delaware (2014-17) and UConn (2018-21).
Allen is a New Jersey native and previously spent time on Schiano’s staff during his first stint at Rutgers. He was a player development assistant for Schiano in 2005-06 and a graduated assistant in 2007.
During the 2021 season, Rutgers was 4th in the B1G with 45.8 yards per punt and led the conference with 45.3 net yards per punt. Hopefully Allen can help the special teams unit have another impressive year for the Knights.
