Rutgers is going to be missing some defensive line depth before its season opener at Michigan State on Saturday.

Former 3-star recruit Devin Baldwin is entering the transfer portal, according to The Knight Report, Rutgers’ Rivals affiliate.

Baldwin redshirted last season after joining the Scarlet Knights as the No. 80 strong side defensive end in the 2019 recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

He saw action in two games, including vs Ohio State, but did not record any statistics.

The Southfield, Michigan, native did not appear on Rutgers’ depth chart that the school released earlier in the day.

Senior Mike Tverdov, senior Elorm Lumor, senior Michael Dwumfour and junior Robin Jutwreten are expected to make up Rutgers’ starting defensive line in the opener.

Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
