Down goes No. 1.

Rutgers defeated top-ranked Purdue 70-68 on Thursday night in Piscataway. The reason? Ron Harper Jr.

Harper threw up a half-court heave as time expired, sinking lifting the Scarlet Knights to a victory. It was their first-ever win over the No. 1 team in the country.

Harper was huge for Rutgers all night, scoring 30 points and grabbing and 10 rebounds. He was 5-of-7 from the 3-point line.

For Purdue, it was the first time the program has ever been ranked No. 1 in the country. The Boilermakers are now 0-1 in that spot.

It was a huge win for Rutgers, which was also playing without Geo Baker.

The Scarlet Knights are now 5-4 on the season. The Boilers fall to 8-1.
