Rutgers has decided to go the FCS route to round out its 2021 schedule.

On Thursday, Rutgers announced that it has finalized its 2021 schedule by adding Delaware. It will be the first time the two programs have played since 1973.

The two teams will play on Sept. 18 at HighPoint.com Stadium. It will mark the third and final non-conference game on the schedule for the Scarlet Knights. They will also play Temple (Sept. 4) and Syracuse (Sept.11) that season.

All-time, Rutgers and Delaware have played 31 times with the Knights owning a 15-13-3 advantage. The first meeting between the two schools was 1901.

After playing the Blue Hens to round out the non-conference schedule, Rutgers jumps into B1G play by traveling to Michigan.

Delaware is currently a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
