Rutgers announces change to 2019 schedule

Rutgers has made a change to its season opening game against UMass to kickoff the 2019 campaign.

Tuesday, Rutgers announced that the Week 1 showdown between the Scarlet Knights and Minutemen has been move to Friday, Aug. 30. The game was previously scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31.

The season opener will mark the first time Rutgers and UMass have played since the 1978 season. The all-time series is locked at 2-2.

In 2019, the Scarlet Knights will host all three non-conference games on its schedule. In addition to UMass, they’ll also take on Boston College and Liberty. Rutgers will play a total of seven home games next season, with Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State and Michigan State all making the trip to Piscataway.

Rutgers finished the 2018 season 1-11 and did not earn a win in B1G play.
