Eric LeGrand, as many probably remember, played at Rutgers from 2008-10. In 2010, he suffered a spinal cord injury that ended his playing career. In 2012, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him to show respect, and LeGrand officially retired soon after.
At the time of the signing, Greg Schiano was the coach of the Buccaneers, who was LeGrand’s coach at Rutgers.
The other honorary captain, Joe Donato, is a former Rutgers letterwinner in 1997.
