Hetherman arrives at Rutgers after 3 seasons as the defensive coordinator at FCS program James Madison. He was named the 2021 AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year.
Hetherman has familiarity with Rutgers defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak. The two were at Springfield College in 2007 and at Maine from 2014-18. Harasymiak was Maine’s defensive coordinator and then promoted to head coach in 2015 and made Hetherman the team’s new defensive coordinator.
Bob Fraser has been Rutgers’ linebackers coach the past 2 seasons. We’ll see what this means for Fraser.
