Rutgers has officially announced that Kevin MacConnell is returning to the university, this time to be in a chief of staff role for the football program.
MacConnell, who was hired by new head coach Greg Schiano, is making a return to Rutgers. He was previously the deputy athletic directory for more than 25 years during his first run in Piscataway.

“Kevin will be an integral part of our football program,” Schiano said in a statement. “He provided great support and leadership for our program in the past and we are excited to welcome Kevin and his family back to Rutgers.”
According to ScarletKnights.com, MacConnell has spent the last six years working for the Sports Division for Academy Bus. Prior to that, he was the director of football operations for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Schiano was the head coach.
Specific duties for MacConnell were not mentioned.
