Rutgers was able to beat multiple programs to get a pledge from a 2022 offensive lineman out of Philadelphia.

Over the weekend, the Scarlet Knights picked up a verbal pledge from 3-star interior offensive lineman Emir Stinette. The 6-foot-5, 380-pound Pennsylvania native became the 15th player of the cycle to commit to Greg Schiano’s squad.

Stinette made his announcement with a post on Twitter on Sunday.

“After a great conversation with coach Greg Schiano and (Fran Brown) I am blessed to be offered and committed to Rutgers University,” Stinette wrote on Twitter.

According to 247Sports, Stinette ranks as one of the Top 100 interior offensive lineman in the 2022 class. He’s also listed as the No. 32 player out of Pennsylvania.

Seven other programs extended an offer to Stinette. Rutgers beat Arizona State, Cincinnati, Maryland, Pitt, Tennessee, Toledo and West Virginia for his pledge.

Rutgers has been effective on the recruiting front with the 2022 class. The Scarlet Knights currently own the nation’s No. 14 class and sit at No. 4 in the B1G.
