Rutgers’ 2021 class has received a bump in the offensive line department.

The Scarlet Knights received a verbal commitment from three-star offensive tackle Kevin Toth Jr. on Wednesday, giving the team’s class its first offensive line commit of the cycle. He is a native of Hudson, Ohio.

The 6-foot-6, 270-pound lineman made his announcement on Twitter. He becomes the 13th player to pledge to Rutgers.

Toth received a dozen offers on the recruiting trail, most of those coming from Group of Five or FCS programs. He picked Rutgers over Eastern Michigan, Akron, Army, Buffalo, UMass, Kent State and Toledo.

Rutgers’ offensive line has struggled over the last several years, so adding reinforcements up front is a good thing for the program. In order to compete at a high level in the B1G, building a talented and deep offensive line is absolutely essential.

Greg Schiano has done some good work on the recruiting trail during the 2021 cycle. Currently, the Scarlet Knights have 13 members in the class and rank 19th nationally and eighth in the conference.
