Rutgers football approaching record attendance numbers through three home games
Rutgers football has been getting a lot of support from the fanbase this season. So much so that the program might set an attendance record, according to Brian Fonseca of NJ.com.
The average attendance numbers from the team’s three home games so far has been around 51,497 per game. This is more than the record set in 2014 of 50,632 back when the Scarlet Knights first joined the B1G.
Greg Schiano has Rutgers at 3-3 after the first six games of the season. Before last season, the last time that the Scarlet Knights went to a bowl game was also in 2014. Rutgers beat North Carolina 40-21 in the Quick Lane Bowl back then. Rutgers lost in the Gator Bowl to Wake Forest in 2021.
Schiano will be looking to take the program to back-to-back bowl games for the first time since the 2012 and 2013 seasons during the Kyle Flood era.
Rutgers still has to play Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Maryland. Can the Scarlet Knights reach the postseason again?
It will go a long for the attendance numbers if they can.
