Rutgers freshman declares for 2022 NBA Draft
Rutgers freshman forward Jaden Jones has decided to take advantage of the opportunity to test the NBA Draft waters. He made his announcement Friday afternoon.
Jones took to Twitter on Friday to say he is declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft. It was not clear whether or not he will keep his college eligibility — a possibility with players who want to receive feedback from the highest level.
“I have gained a lot of from my experience as a Scarlet Knight and have grown tremendously because of it. Thanks to my teammates for pushing me to be better everyday. I enjoyed the ride,” Jones wrote. “Thanks to the Rutgers Nation Fans. I will never forget the energy at Jersey Mike’s Arena. The loud cheers after I scored will always be remembered.
“My dream has always been to play in the NBA. After prayer and discussing this with my family, I feel that there is no better than now to pursue this dream. As I will be entering the 2022 NBA Draft.”

This season, Jones appeared in 17 games for the Scarlet Knights and averaged just over 10 minutes of playing time per contest. He averaged 3.6 points and 1.2 rebounds while shooting 36.4% from the floor.
Jones reached double figures in scoring twice during the season, getting 11 against UMass and 10 against Illinois.
Rutgers closed out its season finishing fourth in the B1G standings and defeated in double-overtime by Notre Dame in the First Four round of March Madness.
