Rutgers hoops adds commitment from Iowa State guard transfer
Rutgers hoops added a commitment from former Iowa State (and Illinois) guard Jeremiah Williams Thursday afternoon.
Williams, a 6-4 guard, has been all over the place across his time in college basketball. He committed to Temple out of high school and entered the portal after 2 seasons. From there, Williams landed at Iowa State, but failed to see legitimate time after suffering a season-ending injury in October.
Williams then transferred again in April of 2023 and announced his commitment to Illinois on June 1. He was never officially announced as an Illini and re-entered the portal after just 3 weeks. Now, he’s heading to Piscataway.
Of course, Williams will need a waiver to be eligible to play this season. Most 2nd time transfers are denied waivers, especially not this close to the season. In all likelihood, Williams will not see the court as a Scarlet Knight until the 2024-25 season.

When Williams has seen the court, he’s been solid. He averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 assists per game at Temple during his sophomore campaign.
Rutgers still has 2 open scholarships for next season.
