Rutgers basketball officially added 2 games to its 2023-24 non-conference slate Wednesday morning. The Scarlet Knights will open the season on Nov. 6 against Princeton in the inaugural Jersey Jam and also play a neutral site contest against Mississippi State on Dec 23.

Both of these are good additions for the Scarlet Knights. The Tigers and the Bulldogs both cracked the NCAA Tournament field in 2023.

The games were announced as part of a release Wednesday. Here’s what HC Steve Pikiell said about the 2 schedule additions:

“We are so excited to open up our 2023-24 season schedule against Princeton,” Pikiell said. “This is a matchup between two teams from the great state of New Jersey with a ton of history. We look forward to a great matchup in Trenton. We are also looking forward to another marquee non-conference opponent in Mississippi State in Newark,” Pikiell added. “These are two great games against competitive opponents that will prepare our team for the gauntlet of the Big Ten Conference schedule ahead.”

Princeton shocked the college basketball world lasts season by downing No. 2 Arizona and later Mizzou to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Bulldogs fell to Pitt in the opening round.
