Rutgers has a lot of talent to replace from a team that went to the NCAA Tournament last season.

Sure, the Scarlet Knights lost in the first round to Notre Dame, but that’s not the point. They still weathered a strong B1G schedule on their way to one of the more impressive finishes in the past 20 years of their hoops program.

But the days of Geo Baker and Ron Harper are gone. And Omoruyi, a rising junior in Steve Pikiell’s system, should have one of the better seasons in the B1G this year.

He cracked Andy Katz’s Katz 22 preseason rankings, coming in at No. 8 on Sunday.

Omoruyi totaled 19 points, 9 rebounds and a pair of blocks in Rutgers’ preseason scrimmage win over Fairfield Sunday.

The Scarlet Knights start their season on Nov. 7 vs. Columbia.
