Rutgers is betting favorite vs. Syracuse in Week 2, snapping 6-year underdog streak
For the first time since 2015, Rutgers is a favorite against a Power-5 nonconference opponent.
DraftKings Sportsbook is listing the Scarlet Knights as 2.5-point favorites in their Week 2 matchup with Syracuse, with an over-under of 52.5.
It’s the first time Rutgers has been favored since Sept. 2015 when it was a 13.5-point favorite over Kansas, according to OddShark’s college football betting database.
In fact, Rutgers has only been favored 11 times since 2015, going 6-5 against the spread over that span.
Rutgers is coming off a lopsided 61-14 victory over Temple in its season opener last week, while Syracuse handled Ohio 29-9 in its first game of the 2021 season. The Orange were picked to finish last in the Atlantic Division of the ACC in the preseason poll while Rutgers was voted sixth out of seven teams in the B1G East.
Syracuse and Rutgers are set to square off on Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
