Rutgers is now more than a touchdown underdog...to Liberty
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for Rutgers, it did.
As if being outscored 207-14 in five B1G games and staring another winless conference season in the face wasn’t enough, the Scarlet Knights opened as a 4-point underdog to Liberty for Saturday’s game. That’s right, a B1G program was an underdog to a program that received its FBS membership just two years ago.
That, alone, is pretty bad. But it gets worse. Early this week, the line has shifted even further in Liberty’s direction. The Hugh Freeze-led Flames now are a 7.5-point road favorite in Piscataway, according to BetOnline.ag.
Not great.
Liberty is actually having a solid season, sitting at 5-2 heading into Saturday’s game. In all likelihood, this game will be the last winnable contest on the schedule for the Scarlet Knights. They still have games against Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State.
We’ll see if Rutgers can pull off the upset this weekend.
