After Kyle Bolin started the first five games of Rutgers’ season at signal caller, coach Chris Ash decided to open the quarterback position during the bye last week. And he is keeping the decision mum heading into the Illinois game.

“Kickoff is 11:01 (central time). Maybe (it’ll be announced) right at 11 o’clock,” Ash said to NJ.com’s Keith Sargeant, playing coy in a post-practice media session Thursday evening.

“We’ll have it figured out. Obviously we don’t want other (teams) do their job. … (Rutgers’ starting QB) will know in advance. But we want to make sure we’re doing the best thing for our football team and you (media) guys will know when we kickoff.”

So come 12:01 p.m. ET against the Fighting Illini on BTN, Rutger fans will know if Bolin or fourth-year junior Giovanni Rescigno and true freshman Johnathan Lewis will be the Scarlet Knights’ starting quarterback.
