Rutgers lands in SEC-heavy Top 4 for 4-star CB out of New Jersey
One of the best football recruits in the 2022 recruiting class from the state of New Jersey has included Rutgers in his Top 4. It’s the only non-SEC school to make the cut.
Davison Igbinosun revealed his Top 4 on Thursday and appears to be making his announcement at the All-American Bowl on Jan. 8. The other 3 schools in the mix are Kentucky, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
Igbinosun is listed as the No. 241 overall prospect in the 2022 class, per 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 29 cornerback and the No. 3 player out of New Jersey for the cycle.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back received offers from 26 programs before eventually trimming that number down to 4. His versatility was an attractive trait for several schools, as he was a two-way player at the high school level.
Igbinosun has taken snaps as a defensive back, wide receiver and running back.
From 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn:
Great frame with length and can easily play at 200 pounds. During live evaluation size, checks out. Multi-sport performer (track and football) who produces in all three phases on high school level. Long strider who covers space quickly. Has size to play safety and hip looseness to play cornerback. Changes direction well. Has speed to cover to the sideline from the safety position on balls thrown down the field. Has excellent ball skills.
Rutgers already owns the nation’s No. 27 class and sits at No. 7 in the B1G. If the Scarlet Knights are able to add Igbinosun to the mix, it’ll be a huge victory for Greg Schiano and his staff.
