Rutgers lands key Minnesota assistant for DC role with Scarlet Knights
According to a Friday report, Rutgers and head coach Greg Schiano have landed on the next DC for the Scarlet Knights.
Pete Thamel with Yahoo! Sports reported that Rutgers is hiring Joe Harasymiak, a New Jersey native and key assistant on PJ Fleck’s Minnesota staff. Harasymiak has been the co-DC of the Gophers the last 2 seasons and has coached safeties since 2019.
Prior to Minnesota, Harasymiak was at Maine from 2011-18, including 3 years as head coach. He finished his time at Maine with a 20-15 head coaching record and led the program to the FCS Semifinals following the 2018 season.
Rutgers was quick to confirm Harasymiak as the next DC of the Scarlet Knights Friday afternoon:
