Rutgers has already lost a member of the 2020 recruiting class to the NCAA transfer portal.

On Saturday, 247Sports reported that Rutgers linebacker Jack Del Rio has entered his name into the transfer database. He was a member of the Scarlet Knights’ 2020 class, not having played in a game before making a decision to look elsewhere. Del Rio had initially committed to Rutgers in July 2019.

Del Rio was ranked as the No. 135 outside linebacker in the 2020 recruiting class. The Clearwater, Florida native was also a 3-star prospect and was listed as one of the top 300 players from the talent-rich Sunshine State.

In addition to Rutgers, Del Rio received interest from Southern Miss, Colorado State and Bowling Green at the FBS level.

Del Rio initially committed to former head coach Chris Ash, but after a sputtering start to the 2019 season, Rutgers AD Pat Hobbs parted ways with Ash and began looking for his replacement. During the offseason, the Scarlet Knights agreed to a deal with Greg Schiano.

Rutgers finished 2019 with a 2-10 record.
