Rutgers has added a wide receiver from the transfer portal. Former West Virginia wide receiver Sean Ryan has decided to join the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers officially welcomed Ryan on Jan. 7 via Twitter:

The 6-foot-3, 198-pound Ryan amassed 25 receptions for 399 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. During his time at West Virginia from 2019-21, Ryan tallied 69 receptions for 882 yards (12.8 average) and 3 touchdowns.

“I feel like these last few years I’ve grown and coaches have come to accept me and I’ve accepted my role on the team and what I bring to the table,” Ryan said in September via 247Sports.

Ryan previously transferred to West Virginia from Temple. During his freshman season with the Owls in 2018, Ryan totaled 12 receptions for 162 yards (13.5 average) and 1 touchdown in 11 games.

Rutgers went 5-8 this season and finished sixth place in the B1G East.
