Rutgers punter Flynn Appleby is trying to continue the legacy of elite special teams play left behind by Adam Korsak. So far, he’s looking fantastic with one early boomer against Michigan.

Facing the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, the Scarlet Knights were backed up in their own territory and needed to punt away. With one kick, Appleby was able to flip the field in a massive way.

He delivered a booming 75-yard punt that hit and rolled in favor of Rutgers. It eventually rolled out of bounds at Michigan’s 6-yard line.

While the punt was impressive, it didn’t slow the ensuing Michigan drive. The Wolverines covered all 94 yards in 7 plays and faced just one 3rd down during the drive.

So far, the two sides are locked in a 7-all tie midway through the second quarter after a missed field goal on either side. We’ll see how things shape up moving forward.
