The Scarlet Knights received a nice boost to its 2020 recruiting class on Friday, landing a talented safety out of Florida.

Friday, three-star safety Jerrold Pough of Hollywood, Florida, gave his verbal pledge to Rutgers, becoming the eighth player to provide a hard commitment. He made his announcement via Twitter.

“I would like to thank all the schools that recruited me but I would like to give a special shout out to Rutgers University for giving me a chance to attend your school,” Pough wrote. “With that being said I will be Committing to Rutgers University.”

Pough is a 6-foot, 170-pound Florida native who brings good athleticism to Rutgers’ secondary. He’s ranked as one of the top 100 players at his position and is a top 200 player from his talent-filled home state.

According to 247Sports, Pough had several offers from programs out of the B1G and SEC. Along with Rutgers, the three-star safety drew interest from Michigan, Maryland, LSU, Purdue, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Miami and Minnesota, along with several other programs.

With Pough’s commitment, Rutgers ranks 12th in the B1G in the 2020 recruiting rankings. The Scarlet Knights are 74th nationally.
