Greg Schiano continues to raid the the MAC as the Rutgers coach retools his defensive coaching staff.

Schiano is set to hire Bowling Green’s Julian Campenni as the Scarlett Knights’ defensive ends coach, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported, after the program also brought on another MAC assistant.

Campenni was in his fifth season on Scot Loeffler’s staff after being named the defensive line coach in December of 2018. In February of 2022 he also assumed the title of defensive run game coordinator coordinator and in February 2023 Loffler elevated Campenni to assistant head coach, according to his Bowling Green bio.

In 2021 under Campenni, the Bowling Green recorded its best season dating back to the 2013 MAC championship year, as it allowed opponents only 373.7 yards per game.

Campenni, who played at UConn, began his coaching career at Wyoming High School in 2016, and then was a graduate assistant at Boston College in 2017 before he joined the Falcons in 2019.
